Luis Diaz took the No. 055 Microsoft Workplace 2010-sponsored HPD ARX-01g for the pole in an awe-inspiring way with a qualifying effort for that Level 5 Motorsports group and owner, Scott Tucker Racing from Leawood, KS.
Teammate Christophe Bouchut held the top spot with the No. 33 Microsoft Office 2010 HPD ARX-01g for that 15 minute prototype session. Bouchut was knocked out by No. 26 Signatech ORECA-Nissan within the closing minutes.
Bouchut couldn’t get it with each other within the final minutes from the race, but team member Diaz took this Honda-powered prototype for the checked flag. It took the pole to the 2009 American Le Mans Series LMP2 champion

“It was a matter of having a clean lap,” Diaz said. “The LMP1 cars did not make our lives highly easy. We had been surprised because we know the speed of the Nissan, and to beat them right here is extremely special. But the Level 5 guys did a great job with the car. They’ve labored about the clock in both Europe and here to prepare the cars. I consider this pole is great motivation for that race.”
Diaz’s remarkable 1:12.335 lap time was extraordinary and beat out Nissan. That takes him and his co motorists Tucker and Marino Franchitti to key place to just take the win at Saturday’s 10 hour endurance race.
